From the family model: the idea that you are not alone in your health, that your family history matters, that food, sleep, and relationships are part of the picture.
Where does health information get missed between two cultural systems?
Second-generation South Asian women often describe being told their symptoms are stress, period pain, or 'just how it is', and accepting this because it matches what they were taught at home. If something is bothering you for more than a few cycles, it is worth asking again, or asking somewhere else.
