Accessibility Statement
Appy + Yaar · Her Holistic Health Ltd · Last updated 28 May 2026
We want Appy + Yaar to be usable by everyone. We are working towards meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard recommended by the NHS and UK government. This is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time task.
Our commitment
Appy + Yaar is designed for UK South Asian women and men navigating hormonal and reproductive health. We know that many in our community use mobile devices as their primary way of accessing health information, and that some users may have visual, motor, or cognitive access needs.
We aim to:
- • Use clear, plain-English language with no unnecessary jargon
- • Ensure sufficient colour contrast throughout the app
- • Support keyboard and screen reader navigation
- • Make all interactive elements reachable without a mouse or touchscreen gesture
- • Provide text alternatives for any non-text content
- • Not use content that flashes more than three times per second
Technical standards
This app aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. It is built using standard HTML, React, and Tailwind CSS. We test on current versions of Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, and with VoiceOver (iOS/macOS) and NVDA (Windows).
Known issues
We are currently in pilot. We have identified the following areas we are actively working to improve:
- • Some chatbot responses may not be fully optimised for screen readers; we are reviewing markup structure
- • Multilingual content (Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil) relies on system fonts; display quality varies by device
- • Some modal dialogs may not trap focus correctly on older mobile browsers
If you encounter something not on this list, please tell us; your report directly improves the app.
What we have not yet assessed
As a pilot product, we have not yet commissioned a formal third-party accessibility audit. We intend to do so before any wider public launch. This statement will be updated with audit findings and a remediation timeline.
Enforcement
If you are not happy with how we respond to your accessibility concern, you can contact the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) or, in Northern Ireland, the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
Feedback and contact
If you cannot access any part of this site, need content in a different format, or want to report an accessibility problem, email info@herholistichealth.co.uk. We aim to respond within 5 working days.
Please include: the page or feature you were trying to use, what assistive technology you were using (if any), and what happened.
